Beach Lovers - Day Trip WestPunt Beaches

Pack your bags, your beach towels and get ready for a beautiful beach day in Curacao.

For a day trip we like to hope from beach to beach, get an overview of the beaches and feel the vibe of Banda Bou.

One of the most important thing and fun to do is preparing the cool box with our favorite drinks and bites for the beach, it is jummy (and budget friendly). There is a cool box in your apartment ready to be filled. Banda Bou is in the west side of the island. Once we hit the rode, the trip begins, all the colorful houses, tokos (small supermarkets) and scenic views start to show up!! The beautiful natural beaches will be available at a minute way from your main road. We usually visit the following ones:

- Grote Knip, also called Playa Kenepa Grandi. Every time like the first time, we are happy to overlook the turquoise blue water. After spending few minutes pleased with the

view we continue to the beach. It is a public entrance free beach. If you dont want to stay the whole day there, you can continue and catch another beach (on the way back home is Cass abou or Porto Marie beach). If you want to leave any bags or any other personal objects inside the car, remember to put them inside the trunk of your car for more security and be aware of your personal belongings while you are swimming. In this beach the space is wide and open, so better be careful, however trust us it is worth the visit. - Playa Grandi or Playa Piskado is known as a fisherman beach, the special thing about this beach is that you can swim with the turtles, it is quite an unique and amazing experience. The beach is small, you can plan an hour visit and continue to another beach. While you snorkel, be consider with the turtles, please don´t get too close to them, do not feed them and don´t touch them, be nice and respect their environment, your are visiting their home. Once there, there is a place very near where we like to eat when we going to swim with the turtles, it is called Sol Food restaurant, it opens Friday, Saturday and Sunday... It is a cozy small wood deck restaurant, overlooking Playa Grandi, it is amazing and pizzas are delicious. There are many options in the menu.

- Playa Lagun and Klein Knip are small charming beaches in Curacao, if you find a spot they are a nice ones. By sunset time a cute old style bus arrives sounding the horn to announce it is time to buy Lovers ice cream. We love this moment that reminds us of our childhood.

- Cass Abou and Porto Marie are private beaches, the entrance fee is about USD 8 per car at Cass Abou or USD 3 per person in Porto Marie, both beaches have restaurant, bar and showers... We enjoy snorkeling and snacking from our cool box, remember there is a cool box in your apartment ready to be filled. The beach chairs can be rented at the beach. Cass Abou and Porto Marie are amazing, when we plan to have lunch at the beach we go for the Williwood burgers with a Montana beer at Porto Marie´s restaurant. At Cass Abou we found it very spacious to lay our chairs, inflatables and our cool box by the shore. There is a beachside restaurant as well.

- Coral State beach is in the same way to Porto Marie beach, but in some point there is a sight to go to Coral State instead of continuing to Porto Marie. It is a nice place, with many facilities. Beside the beach with palapas, we enjoy some tapas and drinks from Karakter restaurant. It is a relax place for a beach day with an amazing sunset view. For this beach plan, the cool box stays at home.

Our Beach Day Trip:

08:00 Breakfast at home and prepare the cool box.

09:00 Take the road to WestPunt heading to Grote Kenepa.

In the way to Kenepa, take time to go out of the main road and visit some of the beaches.

Like Playa Forti or Playa Lagun.

11:00 Grote Kenepa Beach swim and snacking.

13:00 Playa Grandi swim with the turtles

Somewhen it is lunch time.

15:30 Klein Kenepa to catch the sunset.

17:00 Time to go home and enjoy the road.

Still time to stop at the supermarket in the way back home

for some some wine or dessert for a lovely homemade dinner.

19:00 BBQ at home.
